Revamping Our Outdoor Shower with Solid Stain: A Step-by-Step Guide

Some corners of your outdoor living area will always need extra attention. One such place is our outdoor shower. It needs to be treated with love and care. It has seen countless summers of laughter and rainstorms but has slowly lost its former glory over time. I’m going to share a story about rebirth with you today – how to revitalize an outdoor shower using solid stain.

We have never used solid stain in any of our DIY projects. We decided to bravely take this step after a professional painter recommended that we do so. He said that solid stain was perfect for our outdoor bathroom shower because it provides excellent coverage and protects the wood against the effects of harsh weather.

We were a bit intimidated before we started this project. It seemed like every corner and crevice was a challenge. The process of applying solid stain is actually quite simple. It doesn’t require any complicated preparation or professional tools. It only takes a roller and a brush to create a new appearance.

Solid stain has a magic that lies somewhere between traditional semi-transparent stains and paint. It adds color and protects the wood from the elements. The results are so pleasing that we wonder why we didn’t discover this sooner.

We chose Behr’s Tugboat solid stain for the actual operation. This color matches our front porch deck color and is a warm, natural choice. We used a brush first to apply the edges, corners and large surface coating. The entire process took just two afternoons and the results were beyond our expectations.

We have learned to appreciate the benefits of solid stain. It not only made the outdoor shower look new, but also provided us with more protection and reduced maintenance. No longer do we have to worry about wood cracking or rotting. We also don’t need to clean it and re-stain it as often.

We learned to fight the time and make old things look like new. This is more than a renovation. It’s a redefinition. This story is meant to inspire and show you that there are rebirth possibilities everywhere. Remember that change doesn’t have to be a complex process. Sometimes, it’s just a matter of a fresh perspective and a willingness for change.
